Leo Hallissey qualified as an Architect in London and is now retired.
Many people say that Leo's pots are influenced by his architectural training and he acknowledges this although occasionally his pots show a degree of spontaneous mark making and experimentation to the clay surface. Leo is fascinated by how clay can be transformed by the energy applied to it by the potter especially to the surface and then also by changes within the kiln.
Various courses in ceramics at Cornwall College between 1998 and 2002 (where he gained a distinction at HNC) brought him in contact with students and tutors exploring the diverse world of ceramics. Many are still in regular contact.
Leo joined Creftow artists co-operative in 2003 and shows some of his work at the Gallery in Helston.
